Might as well start off with the vitals for myself:

Here are my answers to the essay questions at the Boston Matchmaker site (when I was a member):

Try to describe the type of person you might be interested in meeting? (either romantically or platonically)
Nice smile, friendly, sense of humor, slender to height/weight proportionate, financially secure (preferably), ...
Describe your personality type? What type are you attracted to?
easy going, open-minded, inherently shy at heart (but women I've met in the past tell me they don't think I'm shy), but once I get to know you you probably won't be able to shut me up :-), sense of humor, opinionated but like I said, open-minded, cautious.

I'm attracted to a diverse set of personality types, and some personality charateristics that I find attractive in some women I don't find so in other women, it really depends on the blend of characteristics in any given woman that I may or may not find attractive since no two women are exactly alike.

What's the FIRST thing others notice about you?

I look younger than my true age

What would be a perfect 1st date?
dinner. most definitely not the movies for a first date (except maybe after dinner and unplanned if the date was going very good), can't converse. lunch would also be ok if located nearby.

Where have you met most of your current friends? If you could choose the ideal friend, what would he/she be like?
high school, college, friends of friends, ex-romantic interests. Ideal friend, that's a tough one! I would hope my ideal friend would also be my lover (& female of course). My best friends are often female, maybe because growing up all my cousins were female as well as the neighbors kids on both sides and in the back.

What type of work do you do and are you enjoying it? For how long?
software engineer, 11+ years, and yes, I enjoy it, though I wish I could come up with a marketable product idea to be able to start my own business.

Favorite pastime? Hobby? Diversion? Just what goes on Sundays at your place?
the home renovations have taken up most of my weekends the past several years (I bought a 135 year old 2-family house about 6 years ago), so I guess that is my favorite diversion at the present time. I also enjoy the movies (on video, at the theater, and especially at the drive-in in the summer time), playing card or board games with friends or family, skiing (downhill), tennis, and racquetball.

The Money Pit

What comedians, TV shows or movies match your sense of humor?
I'm an NBC sitcom fan for sure all the way back to "Family Ties", "Cheers", "Night Court" (though I don't care for this one as much now), and recent line up, "Seinfeld" (can you believe he turned down $15M/episode!? and what a boring series ender!), "Friends", "News Radio", "Fraiser", "3rd Rock" (though I must admit after seeing the 1st episode I was betting it would be canceled until I converted), "Mad About You", "Caroline in the City", etc. (I'm not a totally loyal NBC sitcom fan however, I don't watch "Veronica's Closet", "The Naked Truth" (even though I am a semi-fan of Chris Elliott from his Letterman days and of his short lived "Get A Life!" show on FOX), "Suddenly Susan", or "Working").

One of the movies I've laughed the hardest at when I saw it the very first time was "The Freshman". I also love romantic comedies.

Way back in high school I enjoyed Steve Martin's sense of humor. The only comedy album I ever bought was one of his. I enjoy Steven Wright's humor from what I've seen his act on late night talk shows.

List some of your favorite lines from movies / poems / songs.
"I'll be back", "I'll buy that for a dollar", "you can't always get what you want, but if you try sometime, you just might find, find what you need", "I'll have what she's having", "We'll always have Paris", "George lasso's the moon"

Name some of your favorite Actors ? List a few of your all-time favorite movies.
It's a Wonderful Life (too bad it's no longer in the public domain, I enjoyed when PBS stations would play it non-stop around the holidays). Casablanca, Groundhog Day

Name some of your favorite Singers and Bands ? What type of music do you enjoy? Do you go to concerts / performances? List performances you have attended.
Classic rock & pop (the oldies but goodies) from the 50's to early 80's. Haven't been to a concert in a while, hard to get good seats with out being scalped, and most of the shows I'd like to go to are at venues a couple hours drive away, plus it's hard to find someone also interested in the same artist and willing to travel to see them.

Concerts I've been to in the past include the Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, Pat Benatar, Tom Jones, Monkees, Chuck Berry, Aerosmith (college days), America, Donavan, Paul McCartney, Ramones, Grass Roots, Three Dog Night, Turtles, Frankee Valle & the 4 Seasons, Gary Pucket, Coasters, Dylan, Tina Turner, etc.

I'm don't care for musicals (on stage, or movies), but if I go to see a play I like comedies (funniest one I ever saw was on my 2nd trip to london and it was called "It Runs in the Family").

If you could 'Do Lunch' with anyone, list a few.
How about you! :-)

Do you (or did you) play any musical instruments? List them. What level?
accordion and the guitar (see the photo) when I was a child. I was not very good at either of them and do not play any instruments today.
Jeff playing guitar at
8 years old

What happens if you leave sour cream out... does it 'go good'?
Now that's Steven Wright's style of humor!
(from reading several other people's essay answers I see most people don't understand this isn't really a question but a joke!)

Any additional comments? Is there anything about you that the questionnaire didn't cover?

The first photo is from 1986 but is the best one I could find that was scanned in at the time. The 2nd photo is newer (probably about 5 years old) and is myself w/my first two kitties (skippy & wimpy). The 3rd photo is me as a child proving that I did have blonde hair when I was younger. The 4th photo is one of Mittens, and the 5th photo are the two boys again when they were very young.
